SharePoint Analytics is the process of tracking, measuring, and analysing user behaviour
across SharePoint sites. It provides insights into
- page visits and interactions with their content
- content contributions
- search behaviour and performance
- how users navigate the environment and by which devices and browsers
- user behavior in relation to all the SharePoint and third-party features (including AI
tools) that have been made available.
Ideally all this data has been captured with associated user profile data so that the behavior
of organization segments can be compared and contrasted to highlight any adoption and
engagement issues. SharePoint Analytics also refers to the tracking of administrative,
governance and performance issues, for example around
- site proliferation
- stagnant sites
- page loading speeds.
