Long-Term Partnerships in Legal Tech

I make sure to connect with Ragav Jagannathan at every legal tech event I attend. As a fellow founder sponsor of KM&I, this was never going to be an exception.

We’ve been partnering for 4 years now. We first teamed up at a 2000+ attorney firm where his company (KLST) were building a sophisticated SharePoint Online intranet. The firm’s CKO had called us in to make sure they had comprehensive analytics in place before ‘go live’. After all, telemetry is never more important than at launch.

Beyond the Typical SharePoint Intranet at KM&I

However the ‘it could only have happened at an in-person event’ thing at this KM&I for Legal was not around a ‘typical’ SharePoint-based intranet.
Our teaming with KLST is no longer just around SharePoint. We were building v1 of NGAGE for AI (see Episode2) while Ragav’s KLapper business was taking off. And, as soon as we’d plugged in everything Copilot, the priority was to make sure NGAGE for AI could roll up comprehensive metrics around agents built on the KLapper platform.
But that’s not it either.

An Intelligent Intranet in Action: Dickinson Wright’s Transformation

One of the best things I saw at KM&I was Ragav’s breakout session – “Lessons from Dickinson Wright’s Intelligent Intranet Transformation” delivered in major part by Jadin Tredup, DW’s Senior Data Scientist.

He demoed how their SharePoint Intranet (built by KLST) had been transformed with KLapper into:

It was the best real-world validation of our vision of the modern integrated Digital Workplace that I’d encountered.

We will continue to offer point analytics solutions including:

Truth is, they’re all sneakily integrated anyway.

The Future of Legal Digital Workplaces

There’s no way I would have caught this demo in any other setting than an in-person event. Ragav described it as both an ‘AI-powered knowledge hub’ and an ‘Intelligent Intranet’. But maybe by next year’s KM&I event, what Dickinson Wright have will simply be remembered as one of the first examples of a modern Digital Workplace in a big law firm.

We hope so.  We love our best-of-breed point solutions. But we’ve been championing the integrated Digital Workplace concept for quite some time now. Maybe we went early and missed opportunities? Who knows? But It’s great to see innovators like KLST and Dickinson Wright moving the dial.

FAQs

1. What is an AI-powered legal intranet?

An AI-powered legal intranet is an integrated Digital Workplace that combines traditional SharePoint or Teams-based intranets with AI tools, chatbots, and intelligent search to deliver personalized answers, automate attorney workflows, and surface relevant knowledge.

SharePoint-based intranets are serious business tools in major law firms. Providing access to key applications and the firm’s knowledge assets they are an important platform for driving individual and collective productivity across diverse, distributed practice groups.

As such, they require a serious focus on great design and continuous improvement that can only be sustained with comprehensive, sophisticated SharePoint analytics.

NGAGE for AI provides comprehensive analytics around KLapper-built AI agents:

This helps KM, innovation, and IT teams track how KLapper agents are being used across the digital workplace, how they perform and, critically, compares them with all other AI agents that have been deployed.

Because employees don’t use these tools in isolation.

Integrated analytics provide a single, accurate view of what users are doing across the entire digital workplace.

A modern legal digital workplace unifies SharePoint, Teams, AI tools, and knowledge systems into one cohesive experience. It allows attorneys to:

Analytics tie it all together by showing what works, what doesn’t, and what needs improvement.

In-person events like KM&I create rare opportunities to see live demos from multiple vendors, and share the real-world use cases of multiple organizations, and uncover otherwise invisible integration and partnership opportunities.

Yes. NGAGE supports best-of-breed point solutions—whether for SharePoint, Teams, or AI. But the strongest insights come when firms combine them into a fully integrated analytics ecosystem.

Most firms start where they have the biggest gap:
